This week I spent an hour with a professional candidate going over all of the features of http://linkedin.com for job seekers.
I am considering holding another class soon for this useful job search tool.
I am surprised at how many people have not yet harnessed the power of LinkedIn. I hear them say they don't have time for social media. I disagree! If you are a job seeker, LinkedIn is one of the best tools out there for you.
A LinkedIn profile acts as a living resume for job seekers and professionals alike. It gives you an opportunity to share all of your accomplishments, get recommendations from clients, colleagues and supervisors, and to search for contacts who can help "network" you into a job.
Every day when I open my LinkedIn profile, there are suggested jobs, blogs from some of my contacts, suggested events and updates from people I am connected with.
It also gives me an opportunity to let others know what is going on in my world, answer questions as an "expert" and join into discussions in groups.
I don't suggest this is the only way to network, but it is the best online professional network. If you don't have a LinkedIn account, what are you waiting for?
